A Rainy Day Field Trip

Today we left at 7:30am for a field trip to Columbia, our state capital. The 3rd graders were so well behaved on the bus. I slept for most of the trip down. We went to Riverbanks Zoo and had about 1 hour to spend inside the zoo. It was so cold and we headed straight for Starbucks. (Couldn't believe there was a Starbucks at the zoo.) The first animals we saw were the brown bears and they looked like my boys. They were fighting. (All of my pics were fuzzy but I thought it was funny so I decided to show you anyway.)

Doesn't this look just like boys. They were so funny.

We went to lunch. WE ended up eating on the bus because it was so cold and it started to rain. After lunch, we went back in the zoo (in the rain). We decided to go to the barn (just for cover). I did get a good one of Gabe milking a fake cow.

After the zoo, we headed for the State House. This was a fast visit. I thought it was very interesting but just too quick. Our state representative, Davey Hiott, came down and talked to the kids. We watched a short video and then headed out for a tour. It was the fastest tour I have ever been on. We looked at...
the room where the Senate meets and...

the room where the House meets and...
the faux dome.

Then we took a few pictures on the front steps and...

returned to the bus and headed for home.

It was a nice day but Jim and I decided to take the kids back to the State House when we are not so rushed. We had a scavenger hunt we were supposed to complete but because of the rain and the time we didn't get to it. So we'll save it for a free fun day for our family. And now we are headed for Spring Break. Tomorrow is the first day. Hopefully everyone will sleep late including mom.

Reflections

Happy 1st Birthday, Baby Girl

Happy 1st birthday, my precious baby girl. A year ago today we were in the hospital room looking at you and thinking, "What do we do with a girl?". Now I think, "What would I do without you?" As I watch you grow, I think about what a miracle you are. As you've learned to roll over, sit up, crawl, and walk, everyday has been a blessing that has been given to me. I love you and
you'll always be my precious little miracle. Happy 1st Birthday!

It's Not Over 'Til The Fat Lady Sings...

The fat lady is singing. Zane lost the Pinewood Derby Race this morning.

Oh Well, he's just glad to have his car back.

Sasquatch Or Just Another Naked 2 Year Old?

My hubby was upstairs taking pictures of the latest developments on the pool and he excitedly took this picture. He thought he had spotted Sasquatch. The picture is a little blurry. Is it Sasquatch?

Right there in the middle of the picture? Do you see it? Yes, that is my baby boy coming through the woods completely naked. "What kind of mother would allow a child to roam the woods with no clothes?" I guess that would be me. Oh well, I've always heard "Pick your battles" and since it was 77 degrees yesterday this wasn't one worth picking. However, I do see how the mix up could occur.

My Brilliant and Quite Persuasive Children

A couple of months ago Gman and Zman came home from school with this persuasive paragraph.

If you can't read this, it says:

Dog Vs. No Dog
I think we should consider getting a dog for a pet. First, it would help me learn to be responsible. I would have to feed it and take it for a walk everyday. Second, it would keep me company when there is no one else to play with. It would also scare away strangers who are up to no good. So you see, having a dog for a pet would be a good thing for our family.

So in January, what did we do?

Meet Lucy! The newest member of our family. She has grown a lot since we got her but she is still a puppy. She is a good dog. But who is learning responsibility by feeding and walking her? Why, Dad, of course!

But I think Little J loves her the most. She nips at him and pulls his clothes and tries to knock him down on the ground so she can get on him and lick him. But today he was sitting at the window and I asked him what he was looking at. And he said, "Our "punny" (funny) puppy, Mommy!"

J was trying to get Lucy to pose for the picture. She didn't cooperate. Maybe that's why they get along so well. They are just alike.

A Live Show

We took MC and Little J to see Go, Diego, Go live on stage last night at Little John in Clemson. It was definitely not the best show we have been to (The Wiggles were the best). But Little J loved it. They wouldn't let you take pictures during the show (mine never turn out anyway) but guess who is behind the Baby Jaguar masks!

After the show, I thought I would get a picture in front of the sign. MC cooperated but not little man. Surprise! Surprise! Oh well, we had a lot of fun and that is all that matters.

Pinewood Derby And More Fun Stuff

Today was busy and fun. First, Gman went to the piano festival and anxiously awaited the phone call. And for the third year in a row...Superior! Congratulations, G!

After Gman played, we rushed back just in time for the races.

The cars were weighed in. The cars couldn't be more than 5 ounces. Zman was cutting it close.

All the cars are lined up and ready for action.

Little J is learning something from big brother Z.

It takes great patience to line up the car just right.

And the winner is...

He's off to the district race in 2 weeks!

And to celebrate! PJs and free ice cream!

Everyone got chocolate except G and he got strawberry. Delicious! Thanks, Bruster's!
