Creatures

We live in the mountains so we have lots of creatures in our yard. I thought some you city people might be interested in seeing the things that we see everyday. I keep a folder of pictures on my computer just for the creatures that we take pictures of. Here are a few.

This was curled up under the railing on our deck.

This is what she looks like uncurled.

Then there are these. Scorpions. We found quite a few last summer. Hopefully, they found a better home this summer.

One Saturday morning, we awoke to this visitor in our garage. Harmless, but never the less, I was a little freaked out.

One of Zane's favorites. Also found in the garage.

We see these beautiful Luna Moths almost daily on one window or another. I think they are very fascinating.

This spider was found in the pool on a pool noodle. The stuff that looks like hair on her back is actually babies. Now that one kinda creeped me out.

And last but not least, this beautiful mammal walked right by out kitchen window last summer. By the time we got the camera, he was at the road. There have been several bear sitings this year but we have yet to have one. I would love to see another one. They are so pretty. But I know the reason we are seeing them is because they are hungry. My parents had one in the back of dad's truck 2 weeks ago. I tried to get a picture but it didn't turn out very good. This picture is not great but it is good enough.

Doesn't he look cute and cuddly? But he is not and we will keep our distance.

We've also seen lots of deer and raccoons but I can't find my pictures. Lucy (our dog) seems to keep most of the animals away now. But we will start feeding the deer again and maybe they will come back.

Our 20th anniversary is this July. Do you have any recommendations for a great place to visit- Charleston, Ashville, Savannah. I have not been to any as an adult. Figured you are close enough to have tried them all. I like to antique and shop at unique shops. I LOVE to look at old homes and the beautiful gardens like I see in the photos of Charleston. I would love to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant. Another idea is to go the furniture mart area because I need media room furniture! Have you been there? Is it worth the prices? Do they have a lot of accessories? Help!

while I am not a fan of creatures.....these are really good pictures, Tami. Is
photography your hobby?

I grew up in the country too but I never did see a bear around the yard! Cool.....

and Southerner...Savannah is my choice over Charleston I guess because I go to Charleston a lot. Both are great though. Do go to Paula Deen's and Uncle Bubba's and if you do Charleston go to Hyman's Seafood...

Savannah is really just a bigger Charleston...I thought down by the water fronts were just better in Savannah...Oh and Ashville is great too..lots of good antique shops...

We have creepy crawlies here, too! The scorpions are my least favorite! We have not seen a bear, but we have 4 coyotes that roam the "hood" and a deer family that frequents our yard:) They have recently been enjoying the buds on our daylilies, and they love to step on my beautiful lillies (in bloom) and break the stems.

Also, my opinion to Southerner - I love Charleston! The carriage rides, the atmosphere, the food, sitting on a swing on the pier, the market - I could go on and on but I won't. The only bad thing is Charleston in July...H-O-T!

Hey, we have taken your blog post hostage and turned it into my vacation destination website. How do you like that? Thanks for the opinions. I am going to see if we can book a time share through my dad, that might be a determining factor.

Okay, the cute bear comment. Um, I think my kids would be inside for a while. I am used to the bugs, we had a racoon by our garage when we came home from church two weeks ago, the neighbor kids say there are cayote in the woods behind/beside us, but bears.

You sure have a lot of creatures in your neck of the woods! Oh My Goodness - I think I would freak out! Especially with the size of those spiders!
